How would you react if you suddenly bumped into an improvised Arcade Fire gig on Union Square? I would most probably freak out as this guy did:

“We’re walking up the stairs from the N,R at Union Square, bout 2a.m. Sat night. Couple street musicians are banging out some tune when we get up to the park.

Holy fucking shit.
It’s Arcade Fire.

Covering New Order. Win and Will on guitars. Regine on guitar-case-as-percussion. Why the fuck not? It’s a nice night in New York, why not blow the dozen wanderers’ minds who’ve magically stumbled upon this scene?

Cover a couple more, then wrap it up with Tunnels.

Holy fucking shit.
New York is magic.”

  1. Cool! En passant, tu connais assurément Wolf Parade (Ah oui, j’aperçois justement l’album sur ta playlist). C’est bon, n’est-ce pas? Presque meilleur que The Arcade Fire tant qu’à moi. Blasphème, je sais.

  2. Whoa, super-cool. Was Regine just banging on a guitar case for the drum sounds? Incredible. Those were some lucky bystanders…

  4. Crazy, hmm? Not the whole band of course … that would have been quite a feat for the other chunk, on tour, who we’ll see on Thurs. M-C, new Pop podcast coming, we’ll talk this week…

  5. whoa, chui jalouse. how lucky were they to see that!?

we can only hope for more of the same in Montreal.
