I can still remember the first time i heard True Faith on radio, sitting in the front right of the car with my dad driving – how good is that i thought, there is something that makes this music special, this childish voice and these beats…
Later on, i discovered that the band name was New Order (ShellShock, in the movie Pretty in Pink) and also discovered a band named The Smiths, whose singer’s voice was like nothing i heard before.
There was definitely something about True Faith, a song which now, 18 years later, still shakes me when i hear it. There is definitely something about New Order, a band that shaped my 80’s.
18 years… *sigh*
f : 30 is the new 20
Ah the years of New Order, Depeche Mode, Front 242, The Cure, Siouxsie… Just a flood of memories. We had a college radio station that would always play that stuff. ‘Touched by the Hand of God’ was my first New Order song.
