Early spring 2003 newsletter

Finally the nice weather is coming back on my side of the ocean,
birds are singing, the sun is brighter and warmer, days are longer.
I now remind how good it feels to see winter ending and spring
slowly coming back.

It looks to me like winter was a long period of thinking and
preparing myself for what’s next, and learning to enjoy life
in every way, even when the sun is not shining on my side and
all i can see is gray outside.

Welcome to the seasonal When I ride my bike Newsletter,
Early Spring 2003 –
A time to sleep and a time to wake up, c’mon,
it’s time to make it happen!

* Words of wisdom *

“There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is
translated through you into action, and because there is only
one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you
block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost.
The world will not have it.

It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable
nor how it compares with other expressions.

It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep
the channel open… whether your choose to take an art class,
keep a journal, record your dreams, dance your story or live
each day from your own creative source. Above all else, keep
the channel open!”

* What’s new *

These last months made it clear in my mind about what i want
to do in life – Art. From these 3 letters i can go further into a endless
list of things i would like to do, but the essence of all is to do art.
To use my hands, my mind and all of my knowledge to create
what will make a part of this world a better place to be.

My list of what i would like to do start with being an inventor
(this i already knew it at age 7) and ends with doing fashion design.
What’s in between is just too long to list here.

I’m still not sure about many things, will i stay here in Germany
or head back to Montreal or any other place, i still can’t say.
This start to push me off my limits since not knowing where
i will live in a year stop me from making long term projects.
I’d never been someone who can set up long term projects, at least
not longer than 3 months. Turning 28 i now figure that it could
be good for me to focus on something for a while and see
a bit further than the next 3 weeks. But living in the “next
3 weeks” space time keeps me free. I guess i have to settle down
somehow.

* Recent projects *

Drawing, drawing and drawing, and i will still push myself so i can
draw more. I also managed to do lots of painting stuff, and created
more products to sell beside so i can earn a living.
I just put online 4 different bookmark models that you can order,
check them out: http://www.wheniridemybike.com/weareallstars/goods.html

Mouse pad, T-shirt, mug, lunch box, caps and tote bag are still available
online, with 6 of my illustrations that are also available for purchase
at the same url.

Otherwise, one of my illustration, “Swirl girl”, was featured in the
2003 Fox River Paper day planner. I still have some planners left
to give away.

I am planning some creative exploration workshop that will be held
in hamburg in the next months, for english and french people especially.
For people living in hamburg, let me know if you would like to join so
i can give you more infos. A website is on his way…

And at last, i still keep my weblog updated of daily thoughts about
life and everything that surrounds me – books, music, inspirations.
