His music is inspired by a love of European folk music, as filtered by a fertile imagination raised in New Mexico and currently resident in Brooklyn. <\/p>\n<p>Emusic described The Gulag Orkestar as &#8220;the best indie rock record of the 19th Century&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>4AD will be releasing an expanded version of the album &#8211; in the world outside North America &#8211; in October.
