Read my posts on <i>Medulla<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2004\/12\/bjork_pop_rule.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2004\/08\/bjrk_medulla.html\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Bloc Party, Silent Alarm<\/b><br \/>\nEven quite early this year I knew this album would be in my best of. <i>This modern love<\/i> and <i>Banquet<\/i> (&#8216;caus i&#8217;m on fiiiiiiire!) marked the year in rock&#8217;n roll. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/04\/bloc_party.html\">A show i will always regret i missed<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Arcade Fire, Funeral<\/b><br \/>\nEn feu sur un nuage &#8211; the energy coming out of this album remembers me <i>hey, i&#8217;m alive!<\/i> Pictures and videos of the show can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/04\/en_feu_sur_un_n.html\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Death Cab for Cutie, Plans and Transatlantism<\/b><br \/>\nshow review and pictures <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/10\/death_cab_for_c.html\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Kings of Convenience, Riot on an empty street<\/b><br \/>\nwho could have told me i was about to meet Erlend Oye on St-Laurent that night, and have a drink &#8217;till real late with Eirick and friends at Laika on a tuesday nite.<br \/>\nI listened to the <i>The Smiths<\/i> meets Erlend Oye hit &#8216;<i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2004\/07\/weekly_obsessio_2.html\">I&#8217;d rather dance than talk with you<\/a><\/i>&#8216; repetitively and compulsively &#8211; enough to make any neighbors move out. A boyfriend would probably have splitted too.<br \/>\nPictures and video of the show are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/m-c\/sets\/125534\/\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Erlend Oye&#8217;s Dj Kicks<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.astralwerks.com\/erlend_oye\/default.html\">Erlend<\/a> again, best DJ Kicks ever. Heard it sucked on a live set though;<\/p>\n<p><b>Annie, Anniemal<\/b><br \/>\nSome girls have it all and she does. An excellent pop album, one of the few female artist i can listen to on and on, followed by an excellent DJ Kicks from german label !K7.<br \/>\nAlbum review <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/08\/annie_some_girl.html\">here<\/a>, pictures and show review <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/09\/anniemal.html\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Acid House Kings, Sing along with Acid House Kings<\/b><br \/>\nThey found their way to me trough <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/mcturgeon\">Myspace<\/a> and i hope they&#8217;ll find their way to be heard in north america. Videos <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/10\/acid_house_king.html\">here<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Legends, Up against the legends<\/b><br \/>\nFound late at nite on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/mcturgeon\">Myspace<\/a> too, i was stuck by their incredible pop and strong melodies. I heard you loved them too;<\/p>\n<p><b>Architecture in Helsinki, In case we die<\/b><br \/>\nfrom Australia, an excellent album if you&#8217;r on fire. Sadly, their van died before they reached my island for the Pop Montreal festival;<\/p>\n<p><b>Clap your hands say yeah<\/b><br \/>\nwas a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/08\/_quoi_tu_te_dro.html\">breakthrough for everyone<\/a>, not to remind me that i missed them at the Main Hall;<\/p>\n<p><b>Malajube, Le compte complet<\/b><br \/>\nenfin! quoi dire de plus. Combien de bon groupes rock francophones sont encore cach\u00e9s dans nos garde-robes? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/09\/of_rock_and_rol.html\">Pictures<\/a> from my Pop Montreal coverage;<\/p>\n<p><b>LCD Soundsystem<\/b><br \/>\nTwice in Montreal this last year, a great album <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/05\/week_end_round.html\">and a great show<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>Mylo, Destroy Rock&#8217;n Roll<\/b><br \/>\nGet up and dance &#8211; Mylo is definitely one of my best dance album of the year. High in class, will finally be dancing on February 13th at the Cabaret. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/06\/mylo_lovers.html\">You loved him too<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Postal Service, Give up<\/b><br \/>\nListening to over and over and over and&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/01\/postal_service.html\">Indie-electro-romantic<\/a>. Did they replaced New Order?<\/p>\n<p><b>Royksopp, The Understanding<\/b><br \/>\nDidnt heard about many of you guys on this album. I loved pieces like &#8216;<i>Follow my ruin<\/i>&#8216;, &#8216;<i>Go away<\/i>&#8216; and the great &#8216;<i>49 percent<\/i>&#8216;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/07\/royskopp_the_un.html\">like a party in my house<\/a>, i tell ya&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>+++<br \/>\ni couldnt go without mentioning excellent bands i discovered this year: Beirut, Mission District, styrofoam, Voxtrot, Islands, The most serene republic, Chromeo, Of Montreal, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popmontreal.com\/\">Pop Montreal festival<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popmontreal.com\/\">Pop Montreal festival<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popmontreal.com\/\">Pop Montreal festival<\/a>, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Most of these band can be heard on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcturgeon.com\/blog\/archives\/all_about_podcasting\/_podcasts\/index.html\">my podcasts<\/a>.
