Holidays final wrap up: Florence, Italy

Breakfast, people watching, Bastia port

I think what i miss the most from our holidays is the café au lait, bread and croissants breakfasts, taken outside at the port, under the sun. Such a classic for France, i wish i could find a place offering these classy breakfast over here in Montreal.

Breakfast

We spent the last days of the holidays with a short stop in Florence, Italy. Something we regretted later since Florence was over crowded with tourists all around.

Appart from the good food (italian – yum!) we havn’t found any cool place to chill and spend some time, appart from this outside gem found in the middle of nowhere…

the only chill out place we found in florence...

Here i close my picture album for this holidays. There are much more pictures from this trip, you can see the full picture album here. Chris is also posting some pictures over here.

Corsica round up

082220061065.jpg

Our third day in corsica was devoted to nature walking, which sounded good to me since i had enough of sitting in the car, mountain viewing, and feeling both car and mountain sick.

Here you’ve got a picture of Chris, who was much faster than I at climbing, and clearly enjoying this nature walk MUCH more than i did. I wish this did not happenened to me, but as far as i understood, it is at that moment that i realized after being in this world for 32 years that my body cant stand being higher than 1000 feet. What i thought was car sickness turned out to be my body telling me that this was way too high for me. So i gave up, waited with my dizziness in the middle of nowhere for Chris to climb a little higher so he could get back with a feeling of satisfaction. Scary.

later time for a beer, the local Petra.

Ending the day with somethign which better fits me, a candle light dinner in Bastia’s port.

Watching, holidays third post

We’ve been wadering around Nice, Cannes, Antibe and Monaco, from the sea to our hilltop appartement in Haut de cagnes for the first 5 days. Haut de Cagnes was a beautiful spot, a french village filled with hidden places to discover.

Haut de Cagnes

We then wrapped up, ready for 6 hours on the ferry to Bastia, in the north of Corsica. I’ve spent most of my time sitting outside of the ferry, with the wind, watching people, and the sea.

View

Waiting, watching

me watching

Who are they, what are they thinking about, where are they going – i could watch people for hours, trying to figure out which secrets they are keeping, their minds wandering in the sea.

Waiting

Family

We reached Corsica at around 20h in the evening. Sadly, i did not fulfill one of my dearest dreams to see dolphins or whales freely diving in the blue sea.

Bleu et froid, holidays second post

Blue

Our second day in Nice, some more beach, some more of this great blue light.

After people watching, we visited some hilltop villages in the mountains around. As you’ll see in the picture, i love to let the wind blow through my hairs while driving the car, this gives me a funny yet unconventional haircut.

Village top me

The appartement we rented was located at Haut de Cagnes, a beautiful hilltop village. This picture was taken in the flat, after the handwriting catched my attention. I loved the way no compromise was done, with no translation, the opposite of what we do in Québec, trying to have everything translated for everyone to understand.

It’s Froid, that’s all!

No compromise

I will continue posting pictures about our trip in the following days, you can see the full picture album here. Chris is also posting some pictures over here.

First day holidays, Nice’s beach

me and Chris on the beach

Anything better than a swim in the Mediterranean sea to recover from jet-lag. This picture was taken at our arrival in Nice.

Due to the huge amount of picture and video material i took during the holidays, and since i did not had my computer with me while traveling, i’ll redo our travel itinerary over here and post pictures on a daily basis for the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned.

Beach toes,

No wonder where the word azur comes from,
