I am doing a comeback to the old monthly newsletter format, something i have been enjoying doing at the start of my blogging life.

You might ask what’s more in the newsletter that is not in the blog, well, as you can read in the old newsletters, my writing is more personal, more reflective about what’s happening on the inside. Maybe it does feel more secure for me to write to someone directly than to write for a wide audience who just stumble on this blog in between 2 activities.
Along with personal reflections, reviews and updates about my art and projects, the monthly newsletter will feature words of wisdoms from inspiring souls, great finds (music, books, jewels, goods, links and so on) and anything uplifting which i feel like sharing.

“The point is: no matter what you take on, insecurity is part of
the job description.
It’s not possible to blaze new trails and forge your own path
while remaining on familiar ground”

Dear fellow readers,
It has been a long while since i have posted the last issue of
this newsletter. In fact, the last issue was posted in spring.
Things have been quite unstable since 6 months, making my
life a real mess. I am learning a lot about the nature of life.
change + movement.
Im into learning that even if we try to escape and avoid change,
we will all have to face it somehow. We will all be given the chance
to experience it at some point in our lifes, so better getting used
to it now and always be ready to welcome the new in any possible way.
* * *
* the new *
Oh yeah, things have been moving a lot for me, and i can feel that
its the same for many souls around. What’s happening? i don’t know.
Maybe its the sun, maybe its the moon. The only thing i know is that
people around me all seem to be asking themselves many questions
with little answers coming in…
Insecurity, fear, doubt, courage, love and peace are words i hear often.
Since last spring, my life changed much more than i could have expected.
In june i left Hamburg and moved back to Montreal, where i am living
right now. Insecurity, confusion, change, adaptation and welcoming the
new is mostly what my life has been about for the last 6 months, and still is.
I didn’t expected that moving back to my home country after 4 years spent
away could be so demanding. I learned a great deal about adjusting myself
to all kind of situations, including finding myself unemployed and without a
place which i could call home.

to learn from them, and to welcome changes as they appear on the way.

Early spring 2003 newsletter
Finally the nice weather is coming back on my side of the ocean,
birds are singing, the sun is brighter and warmer, days are longer.
I now remind how good it feels to see winter ending and spring
slowly coming back.
It looks to me like winter was a long period of thinking and
preparing myself for what’s next, and learning to enjoy life
in every way, even when the sun is not shining on my side and
all i can see is gray outside.

it’s time to make it happen!

* Words of wisdom *
“There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is
translated through you into action, and because there is only
one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you
block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost.
The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable
nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep
the channel open… whether your choose to take an art class,
keep a journal, record your dreams, dance your story or live
each day from your own creative source. Above all else, keep
the channel open!”

* What’s new *
These last months made it clear in my mind about what i want
to do in life - Art. From these 3 letters i can go further into a endless
list of things i would like to do, but the essence of all is to do art.
To use my hands, my mind and all of my knowledge to create
what will make a part of this world a better place to be.
My list of what i would like to do start with being an inventor
(this i already knew it at age 7) and ends with doing fashion design.
What’s in between is just too long to list here.
I’m still not sure about many things, will i stay here in Germany
or head back to Montreal or any other place, i still can’t say.
This start to push me off my limits since not knowing where
i will live in a year stop me from making long term projects.
I’d never been someone who can set up long term projects, at least
not longer than 3 months. Turning 28 i now figure that it could
be good for me to focus on something for a while and see
a bit further than the next 3 weeks. But living in the “next
3 weeks” space time keeps me free. I guess i have to settle down
somehow.

Drawing, drawing and drawing, and i will still push myself so i can
draw more. I also managed to do lots of painting stuff, and created
more products to sell beside so i can earn a living.
I just put online 4 different bookmark models that you can order,
check them out: http://www.wheniridemybike.com/weareallstars/goods.html
Mouse pad, T-shirt, mug, lunch box, caps and tote bag are still available
online, with 6 of my illustrations that are also available for purchase
at the same url.
Otherwise, one of my illustration, “Swirl girl”, was featured in the
2003 Fox River Paper day planner. I still have some planners left
to give away.
I am planning some creative exploration workshop that will be held
in hamburg in the next months, for english and french people especially.
For people living in hamburg, let me know if you would like to join so
i can give you more infos. A website is on his way…
And at last, i still keep my weblog updated of daily thoughts about
life and everything that surrounds me - books, music, inspirations.

As I am sitting at my workplace, seeing the trees letting go of
their leafs for a long while, i would like to write words of wisdom
that would give people inspiration and courage.
But right now everything is going on on the inside, letting the
outside quiet. There is only silence left to fill the emptiness -
of what is in fact not empty and silent at all.

* Words of wisdom *
‘We must remember that everything is ordinary and extraordinary.
It is our mind that open or close’
Quote took from Natalie Goldberg - ‘Writing Down the Bones’
* What is new, what is old, what have i done to get here *
I could resume the last months into a simple sentence,
lots and lots of thinking and re-thinking!
Thinking of what I have done in the last years, where am i at, and
of course, what am i gonna do next. Sitting here today i still don’t
really know what I am gonna do next. I realize more and more that
i cant stand the idea of doing just one kind of job at a time, i need
to mix my occupations, so i don’t get bored and I can keep my
creativity running.
I guess I will continue doing what I did over the last months -
drawing and painting a lot, bring to life projects that are on my mind,
doing personal and commercial projects on the web, looking for
fulfilling work, travelling - and looking for new ways to expand &
express myself. (Signing and dance lessons are on the way, if i can
just unfreeze myself and do it!)
With so many things on my mind, i had the urge to calm down, and
change my environment often so i could change my focus and RELAX a bit!
I did small trips around Germany, and finally managed to do
a week trip alone in Holland. It was absolutely scary and totally
fantastic! Travelling alone is quite a challenge, but it is also magic.
I wish to travel even more in the next years to discover new countries,
new people, new cultures, new energies, and myself. Travelling alone
bring you closer to yourself, you and you. It makes me feel alive.
* An overview of my recent projects *
* Live out loud! *
Live out loud products, featuring ‘travelling dreamer in Paris’,
one of my latest illustration.
“Everyone has a dream.
We need your ideas, we need your art
- should it be writing, dancing, cooking, painting, signing -
we need your imagination, actions, solutions.
If you have a dream, begin now!”

are available online, with 6 of my illustrations that are also
available for purchase as high quality copies.

So, that’s it for now. I would have so much more to write but
this would never end.
I will be in Montreal in December, to celebrate Xmas and new
year with friends & family that i missed a lot in the last months.
If you live around there, its a good time to save the shipping
costs on my illustrations. I will take some copies with me
but better pre-order them before mid-December.
I wish all of you, after reading such a long mail, to go away
from your computer and get something nice for yourself,
you deserve it!
* get a good book and read outside or in a nice coffee
* some chocolate cookies
* a nap with your cat
I wish you lots of nice, quiet time outside in nature, followed
by warm baths with lots of bubbles,
happy fall,

When I ride my bike, i often discover new places and this makes me feel alive.
~~~ What makes you feel alive? ~~~
Monthly quote
Definition of what is wellbeing, from Brian Eno, Musician:
“Having just the right amount of time”
(Quote found in an old issue of Bare magazine.
Recycling old magazines is a good idea!)
What’s new?
Lots of things!
*First, this newsletter! I will try to let you know, as shortly as i can,
what’s going on with the projects i am working on, and of course i will
try to share a bit of what inspires me…
I hope this newsletter can put some sun in your day!
* Second news, CreativeDay (http://creativeday.unitedsituation.de)
was mentioned in Sark’s June e-letter! A lot of people are contributing
to the site everyday, sharing about what inspire them, what is creativity
for them, etc. I also receive lots of e-mail from people saying how
reading other peoples interviews inspired them! If you haven’t
filled out your interview yet you can still do it now!
*Also, i finally have some merchandising online!
For now you can get high quality copies of my illustrations for
25 Euro (US $29 outside Europe), including shipping cost.
I also just designed limited edition mousepads and mugs of
‘Traveling Dreamer In New York’, more products will join later on.
More infos in the shop section,
Things i am working on
* Doing less and take more time just to “be”… and this is quite difficult!
* Updating CreativeDay
There will now be a feature interview every month. Would you like to
suggest someone? Someone who inspire you, someone who make you feel
life is worth living every second? Let me know!
* I am also updating my weblog from time to time with daily thoughts,
ideas, inspiring books, websites, etc. It is a constant experiment and also
a nice toy (i meant tool :)!
Things i would like to do
* Travel travel travel! Meet new people and share!
* Paint and draw more
* Inspire more people to live their dreams
* Relax and have trust that there is enough time.
Things i am too afraid to do
* Travel alone
* Speaking German
* Be myself, everyday in every situation.
A gift for you,
my *Sparkling August* calendar page!
Get ready for August! I just finished my August’s “easy to live with”
calendar, free and ready for you to download & print out.
I first did the calendar page for my personal use, since i can never
find a agenda that fits to my needs, and decided to share it online.
Lets see if the world will look less serious in august..
The page is not like a usual agenda, i haven’t displayed all the days,
because if you are like me, i totally hate to see my agenda crowded
with notes and appointments. I need more free time than working time,
that’s why i only put some fields named “Important Dates” so you can
note the dates you shouldn’t miss. There is also my “monthly quote”,
and a list of “Things I should do” and “Things i would like to do”.
Why? because i am learning that happiness lies in following what
we like to do.
Once printed out, the calendar page is 8×11 inch size so it can be
either fixed on a wall near your working area (like i do), or you
can take it with you in a notebook.
The only thing i ask in exchange is for you to let me know if you
use the calendar, and your comments about it! (such as “put more
lines in the “things i would like to do” section!”, or anything else
Otherwise share it and enjoy!
The *Sparkling August* calendar page here
I need your help!
* I am searching for a representative, it would help me if you can
spread my url or let me know if you might know someone who could
represent me!
* You can always buy my illustrations, cups, mouse pads, for you
or as gift, they might put some sun in your life and in the lifes of people
around you!
* Also, please try to be happy! Dont take things too seriously, and
try to do things that you love to do. More happy people we are,
better our world will be
I wish you a nice August, and until the next newsletter,
dont be shy to get in touch, i would like to hear from you!
Sunny greetings from Hamburg, Germany,
m-c
