End of day speech by PK Peladeau who announced that Quebecor has signed a deal with the Canadian iTunes store this week. When i asked about his views on citizen journalism and how Quebecor would get into new web technologies, his answer was mostly about finding new ways to reach the 15-35: blogs, blogs blogs.

How big does this mean? Quite big as Dave Sifry report today:

- Technorati currently tracks 35.3 Million weblogs, and the blogosphere we track continues to double about every 6 months;
- Technorati currently tracks over 75,000 new weblogs created every day, which means that on average, a new weblog is created every second of every day;
- 19.4 million bloggers (55%) are still posting 3 months after their blogs are created;
- Daily Posting Volume tracked by Technorati is now over 1.2 Million posts per day, which is about 50,000 posts per hour.
How big will the blog phenomena be in 2 years? how much of the word ‘blog’ will stay present in our culture? How soon will it merge with the ‘traditional’ web and become an active part of it and stop being seen as something different from a ‘website’? À quand le blogue de Franco? Les paris sont lancés.
