Essential blogging

Essential blogging book cover.
Why should books about serious things (like programming) should have serious - even boring - looking covers? How interesting it was for me to find out about the idea and the illustrator behind O’Reilly covers…

« Creativity means enjoying any work as meditation; doing any work with deep love. When you understand, whatsoever you do - cooking, cleaning, etc… Life consists of small things; just your ego goes on saying these are small things. You would like some great thing to do - a great poetry, a great painting… Drop the ego and everything is creative. »OshoInspirations

I feel exactly the same way … one theory I’ve heard is that you should work for maybe 15 minutes and then take your reward (reading, or whatever you want to do). It doesn’t work for me though … and anyway I just want to work, work, work …
I still owe you a reply to your email - I’ll write soon
thats maybe a good thing to try, but for me its better to work for 2 or 3 hours, because it takes me at least 45 mintues to “get into it” and start to feel some ideas going on…
my theory (but i still cant apply it without feeling guilty) is:
work 3 to 4 hours, with a small break in between, and then go out or do something totaly different for around 2 or 3hrs, then go back to work for another 3 hrs.
thats what i did today - worked a bit, then i went to the city by bike, had a coffee with some reading/writing, a bit of shopping - and now i feel ready to come back to my work.
To have a long break help me to re-organize my day if needed, and to do so away from my workplace (and from the computer!) is MUCH better. Everything is clear, i got some ideas that i wouldnt probably have got if i would have stayed sitting at my desk.
Let’s see how the rest of my day will be…
Yep, I feel pretty much the same as you do. Every now and then I really get into my work, and it’s such a good feeling - then I can really relax properly later in the day, as I feel satisfied and productive.
Your day sounds pretty much like mine yesterday, but I had two long breaks. A friend and I went for a long walk around the Vondelpark (this is a new idea we just started on the other week - beginning the day with some good exercise and chat. We are going at least once a week, two if we can, and we’ll take it from there to see if it builds up into something more. Then we went to Caf
